Our newest series, Inspired by Grassroots Stories: Community Architectural Advocacy, continues with the Mount Morris Community Improvement Association (MMPCIA). Moderating the conversation is Kelly Carroll, preservation consultant and historic preservation instructor. Carroll checks in with the people and groups behind community preservation efforts in this series of group oral histories.

Join us on August 25, 2021 at 6:30pm as we travel to Harlem to discuss the founding of the MMPCIA, the Creation of the Mount Morris Park Historic District in 1971, and the push and success of the Mount Morris Park Historic District extension in 2015. Guests include Syderia Asberry-Chresfield, Ruthann Richert, Madlyn Stokely and Patricia Pates Eaton of the MMPCIA.

Special thanks to the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) and Pat Reisinger for supporting this series.
