This film series featured a selection of documentary films about New York City written and produced for CBS in the 1960s by Gordon Hyatt. Each evening included a brief introduction about the films, followed by a screening and discussion.

Reflections on the Fair & Our Vanishing Legacy
These two films examine the decline of the classical tradition in favor of modern trends. Historian, journalist, and author Francis Morrone joined filmmaker Gordon Hyatt for the introduction and in a brief discussion following the viewing.

Wednesday, February 1, 7:00 pm

A Question of Values & La Vie Elegant
These films focus on the Grand Tradition of residential New York; the first film focuses on individual houses, and the second on apartment buildings. Donald Albrecht, Architectural historian, author, and curator of architecture and design at The Museum of the City of New York, guided the discussion.

A Fantasy of Forgotten Corners & Cities of the Future

Nina Rappaport, co-chair of DOCOMOMO New York/Tri-State, architectural and urban critic, and editor of publications Yale School of Architecture, offered insight towards the topic of these two films, which deal with then current and future city planning.
